Bed J, Coco Rhymes and Strokes, local musicians from a local music label in Freetown, Cloud Diamond Multimedia, have recently released a song titled ‘Hands of Our Girls’ to raise awareness on and condemn rape and violence against women and girls in the country.
Coco Rhymes, who contributed in the song, said that they had been inspired to do the song by the ill-treatment without justice which girls are undergoing in the country.
He added that the song also condemns the act of forcing girls into Early Marriage.
He emphasized, “The song portrays messages on how to stop rape, stop violence against women mostly the girl child, and how parents should prepare their children for a better future…”
Rhymes further explained that they were also encouraged to release the song by the need to protest and campaign against the death of five-year-old Madinatu Saccoh.
He explained, “We did this song in order to see that the message reached to the nation wider, to put stop to rape and to bring justice for late Kadijah, and also support the initiatives brought by Fatima Bio ‘Hands off Our Girls’.”
Bernard Johnson aka Bed J., the Chief Executive Officer of, Cloud Diamond Multimedia, explained: “the media was not only established to promote the entertainment industry, promote musicians but to also help support the nation and its people when there is need.”
The CEO said that their purpose is not only to entertain people, “ but also to fight for their rights and make simple protest through music when needed.”
He furthered that the media had made many songs to raise awareness on different social issues in the country.
