The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has announced that the Dutch government has formally engaged with the government of Sierra Leone to combat drug trafficking and illegal substances. This statement was made during a regular news conference organized by the Ministry of Information on Tuesday in Freetown.
Minister Bah disclosed that Sierra Leone has received a dossier containing crucial details regarding the case of Jos Liejdekkers, which is currently under review by the Attorney General. He also provided updates on the Guinea cocaine smuggling incident, revealing that former Sierra Leonean Ambassador to Guinea, Alimamy Bangura, has returned to the country to assist with the investigations.
Reassuring the public of President Julius Maada Bio’s unwavering commitment to preventing Sierra Leone from becoming a hub for transnational crimes, Minister Bah highlighted the continued efforts of law enforcement in seizing contraband and arresting perpetrators. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration in tackling drug trafficking and praised the Dutch government for their support in this crucial fight.
The collaboration between Sierra Leone and the Netherlands marks a significant step towards strengthening the country’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
