Sierra Leone: Pentecostal Fellowship inaugurates new executive

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone (PFSL) has on Sunday January 17, 2021, inaugurated its newly elected executive members who would be managing its affairs.

The ceremony which was held at the Harvest Intercontinental Cathedral   in Freetown was graced  by Sierra Leone’s President Dr Julius Maada Bio.

PFSL is the administrative body that regulates the operationalization of   Pentecostal churches in Sierra Leone.  Churches began to display an interest in issues that lie at the heart of the public sphere by preaching, guiding and counseling people to prosper spiritually, materially and economically. Their convert were perceived to be genuine born-again Christians.

The president elect, Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly, said that during his four year tenure in office they would ensure that the immunity of the body would be maintained. He hoped that the PFSL harnessed the strength of the charismatic body.

He noted that PFSL would establish chapters in all the districts in the country to enable them to work effectively in fostering the objectives of the Pentecostal churches.

The president of Council of Churches Sierra Leone (CCSL), Allen Samuel said that PFSL has been collaborating with CCSL, adding that the collaboration has strengthened unity and coordination in how they deal with matters of religious value.

He said that freedom to spread the gospel in Sierra Leone is guaranteed as the country largely enjoys religious tolerance, and that all faith groups continue to provide social and spiritual services to the nation.

The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Mohamed Hadji Kella noted that the ministry over the years has enjoyed a good relationship with PFSL, adding that the establishment of religious body has impacted the nation immensely.
