Sierra Leone: Police testifies in case of Burglary and Larceny

Police Constable 18670 Bangura M. L., attached to the Investigations Branch at a police post in Kissy, has on Thursday December 10th, 2020 testified in an ongoing case of Burglary and Larceny at the Ross Road Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate Sulayman Alhaji Koroma.

The witness, after informing the court that he recognized both accused persons and the complainant in the said matter, furthered that on Monday August 24th, 2020, he was on duty at his post when the complainant made a report of Burglary and Larceny. He added that the matter after it had been reported was assigned to him for investigations. He furthered that on that same day, he and Detective Sergeant 10641 Kamara visited the scene of Crime at Old Wharf in Wellington, where he discovered that the front door to the complainant’s house had been damaged, with her apartment also ransacked. He informed the court   that his colleague took various photographs of the scene of crime and on their return to the station; he interviewed and obtained a voluntary caution statement from the accused.

Detective Bangura concluded that on Sunday August 30th, 2020, he charged the accused to court with the offence of Burglary and Larceny which is contrary to section 25(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused, Mohamed Lamin Bangura, on Monday August 24th, broke and entered into the dwelling house of the complaint and stole property, to the total value of Le 7,520,000.

The matter was adjourned  to December 18th, 2020.
