“Sierra Leone Premier League Set to Kick Off in November, SLFA Announces”

Freetown, Sierra Leone — The much-anticipated Sierra Leone Male Premier League will begin on November 23, 2024, according to an announcement made by the Acting General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Ing. Mohamed Benson s. Speaking on Monday during a formal presentation of the league’s board members to the National Sports Authority (NSA) Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, Bawoh reaffirmed the SLFA’s commitment to enhancing the league’s professionalism and impact.

Dr. Abdulai welcomed the new board members and emphasized the need for effective use of government funds to support club operations, particularly in player salaries, which he noted are crucial for job creation. “Our league is progressing to a professional level, and international players are joining,” Abdulai stated, adding that government support will continue to increase the league’s appeal across the continent.

In a push for integrity, Abdulai urged the board to avoid delays in decision-making, including addressing protests and ensuring no alterations to scheduled fixtures. He also highlighted the importance of expanding media coverage, encouraging the board to consider live broadcasts through partnerships with television networks.

Board Chairman Magistrate Mark Ngegba reassured the NSA of the board’s commitment to transparency and integrity, emphasizing that league challenges can be addressed with proactive leadership.

The NSA, tasked with promoting and regulating sports in Sierra Leone, has pledged its support as the league prepares to attract more players and fans across Africa.
