Sierra Leone Premier League to recommence in February

After football was put on hold for eleven months (11), the Sierra Leone Premier League Board has in a press statement issued on Thursday January 14th, 2021 informed the public that the Sierra Leone Premier League 2020/2021 season will continue on February 19th, 2021. According to the statement, the decision to restart the League had been agreed upon in a meeting held at the Secretariat of the Sierra Leone Football Association.

It further revealed that prior to the restart of the League; the Board has agreed to allow players to transfer from one club to another to allow teams to make necessary adjustment to their squads. The statement stipulated that as of Friday January 15th, 2021 the transfer window was opened and will close at midnight on February 8th, 2021.

The press statement further mentioned that prior to the kick start of the League, the board will conduct series of trainings aimed at building the capacity of various club officials on  Domestic  Transfer Matching System, Club Licensing, Safety and Security, Public Relations and Marketing and Medical.

It could be recalled that before the Sierra Leone Premier League was put on hold, the battle for winning the championship was still in high level, but only Bo Rangers who is currently leading the table have played all 13 matches in the first phase of the league while East End Lions, F.C. Kallon and Kamboi Eagles still have more games to play to complete the first phase of the League that will continue next month.
