Freetown, Sierra Leone—In a landmark move to bolster international collaboration, Sierra Leone has signed a framework agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering key sectors such as agriculture, education, technology, research, and mining. This strategic partnership was announced by Francess Paige Alghali, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, following a parliamentary session at Tower Hill, Freetown.
Speaking with the Sierra Leone Parliamentary Press Gallery, Madam Alghali emphasized the agreement’s potential for mutual benefit, highlighting Sierra Leone’s opportunity to leverage Saudi Arabia’s expertise and resources. She particularly noted Saudi Arabia’s advancements in technology and education, which align with Sierra Leone’s human capital development agenda to enhance tertiary and technical education.
The Deputy Minister also pointed to prospects in petroleum engineering and agriculture, areas where Saudi Arabia has demonstrated significant innovation despite environmental challenges. These collaborations are expected to drive sustainable development and unlock new opportunities for Sierra Leone’s growth.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to fostering international cooperation and ensuring that Sierra Leone benefits from global advancements to support its development agenda,” Alghali stated.
