Sierra Leone: SLFA disburses US$500,000 FIFA COVID-19 Relief Fund to Football Clubs & Associations

The Sierra Leone Football Association(SLFA) has in a in media release put out on March 3, 2021, announced that it has paid the remainder of the US$ 500,000 FIFA COVID-19 Relief Fund which was due to Football Clubs & Associations across the country.

The release further described the manner in which the disbursement will be done,  noting that, since receiving the previous  tranche of the FIFA COVID Relief Fund, some clubs have not provided official document  to account on how they spent it.

Sierra Leone Premier League Board – receive US$200,000 , Premier League Clubs – US$70,000, Regional Football Associations – US$50,000, District Football Associations -US$112,000, National Referees Association-US$5,000, National Football Heroes – US$15,000, National Coaches Association – US$5,000 , Beach Football – US$1,000.

The release called on Clubs, Associations and other SLFA affiliates bodies to comply with the FIFA/SLFA Financial Regulations relating to retirements of previous funds from the first tranche of the COVID-19 Relief Funds disbursement.

The SLFA President Madam Isha Johansen wished the football family “good health and football spirits as we look forward to enjoying the beautiful game with safety and precaution”.
