Sierra Leone: SMA nominates local Movie Director as Int’l Panelist

The management of Special Movie Awards (SMA) has nominated Brima Abdulai Sheriff, a local movie Director to serve among international panelists who would review movies in the forthcoming Special Movie Awards festival in Sierra Leone in March 7, 2021.

Special Movie Awards (SMA) is a platform where filmmakers in and outside Africa will be celebrated, promoted, recognized and films, casts filmmaking crews will be awarded.

According to Sheriff, he was fortunate to have been nominated as one of the SMA panelists by the management team as a result of his capacity, high level of manifest transparency and his positive contribution in the Sierra Leone film industry.

He emphasized, “I was surprise when I received a contact from one of the organizers from England, telling me that they had nominated me to be one of the international panelists for SMA this year.”

According to sheriff he was the chairman of the National Entertainment Awards in 2018 and had supported lot of movie award festivals.

Sheriff has written many movies that had made it to national and international markets.

He is a former Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Human Rights Commission, a former Director of Amnesty International Sierra Leone and the current Advocacy and Learning Facilitator of GOAL Sierra Leone.

He has several international trainings, BSc in Agricultural Education and M.A. in Peace and Development Studies from the Njala University.
