Sierra Leonean, Alfred Caulker has won Gold in the 12th African Arm-Wrestling Championship held at the GNAT Hall in Accra, Ghana.
Caulker competed in the 75kg weight category and defeated top arm wrestlers from across Africa to claim the title.
His victory is a major achievement for Sierra Leone, which has a relatively small arm-wrestling community.
His win has helped to raise the profile of the sport in the country, and it is hoped that it will inspire more people to take up arm-wrestling.
“I am very proud of my achievement,” said Caulker. “I worked hard for this, and it feels great to be able to represent my country and bring home the gold medal.”
Egypt, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, Cameroon, Benin, Madagascar, Togo, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Chad, Gabon and Ghana are the other countries completing the list of Fourteen African countries, with Sierra Leone.
Caulker is now looking forward to competing in the World Arm-wrestling Championship later this year.
He is confident that he can continue to improve and achieve even greater success in the future.
