Adama Sesay, the mother of a three year-old child has on Thursday June 11, 2020, told Premier News that a another young lady attempted to steal her daughter, Hajaratu Bangura, on Monday June 8, 2020 somewhere along Leicester Road in Freetown.
She explained that on Monday at around 6:00 pm at Leicester road, she informed Hajaratu that her grandmother who lives at Berry Street had bought a box of Corn Flakes for her, and promised to collect and bring it for her on her return from work the following day.
Sesay said that upon hearing that, the toddler became anxious and set out towards the direction of her grandmother’s residence, to satisfy her desire for the Corn Flakes in the early hours of the following day to collect the box of Corn Flakes from the grandmother, after she (the mother) had left for work, but upon arrival at the vicinity of her grandmother’s she was unable to locate her specific dwelling. Adama Sesay said that the little girl thereafter became confused and lost her way, and a business woman who was keenly observing her approached her to render assistance. She said that while the woman was enquiring from the child who was then in a state of apparent distress, to ascertain where she had come from and where she was heading for, in a bid to facilitate her safe return another unknown young lady had come forward claiming to be the mother of her three year old child, Hajaratu.
Adama Sesay, the true mother of the child further said that the businesswoman had told her that she had been surprised to observe that the three-year old child did not recognize the unknown young lady who was claiming to be her mother, did not show any affection for her, neither express any sign of relief from the apparent state of distress that she had been found in as a normal child in her condition would have felt given the circumstances.
“But the young lady kept on claiming to be the mother of my child thus causing the businessman to become suspicious that the young lady was not the Biological Mother of Hajaratu,” she said.
She added that because of the woman’s suspicions, she decided to take Hajaratu to a Tribal Elder in Leicester road community for the child to be identified, unknowingly on their way the young lady secretly escaped from their presence and was nowhere to be seen when the businesswoman who had found the child stranded on the road got there. Adama Sesay the true mother of the child said that she later got to the residence of Tribal Elder where three year old Hajaratu Bangura was reunited with her.
