Sierra Leone Women’s Cricket Team Secures Consecutive Wins at BCA Kalahari T20 Tournament

Gaborone, Botswana – The Sierra Leone Senior Women’s Cricket Team made a resounding statement in the opening of the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 Tournament, registering two dominant victories against Mozambique and Eswatini in Gaborone, Botswana.

The team launched their campaign with a commanding seven-wicket win over Mozambique, restricting their opponents to just 37 runs in 15.1 overs. In response, Sierra Leone comfortably chased the target, scoring 39 for the loss of three wickets in 10.4 overs.

Building on their early momentum, Sierra Leone went on to dismantle Eswatini with a disciplined bowling and fielding display. Eswatini managed only 27 runs for the loss of six wickets in their full 20 overs. Sierra Leone’s batters then made swift work of the chase, reaching 28 runs without losing a single wicket in just 3.4 overs, securing victory by ten wickets.

Eyeing ICC Rankings and Tournament Glory

The strong start has positioned Sierra Leone as a formidable contender in the competition, sending a message to rival teams in the race for ICC rankings. With momentum on their side, the team is now focused on their upcoming match against host nation Botswana.

Tomorrow’s game will mark Sierra Leone’s third of five encounters in the tournament, which features a total of 14 matches. As the competition heats up, the Ladies remain determined to claim the top prize.
