Sierra Leonean Referees Officiate CAF Matches

As the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) continues to roll out male and female football competitions at different age categories across the continent, more Sierra Leoneans are being designated to serve as CAF Match Officials in the said tournaments.

Three female officials, Miriam Heroe, Precious A. E. Amara and Humu Marah were designated by CAF to play strategic roles in the organization of the just concluded WAFU Zone A Women’s Club Champions League Qualifiers and the WAFU Zone A U15 Tournament in Monrovia, Liberia.

Heroe and Amara served as Assistant General Coordinator and Assistant Referee, respectively, in the Women’s Club Championship, whiles Marah was one of the selected referees for the WAFU Zone A U15 tournament.

Also, both Prince Kai Saquee and Alhaji Sanusi Rashid have been designated by CAF to serve as Match Commissioner and Referees Assessor, respectively, in the upcoming TotalEnergies 2022 CHAN Qualifiers match between Ghana and Nigeria to be staged on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in Goal Coast, Ghana.

In another development, the SLFA Referees Department in collaboration with the Sierra Leone National Football Referees Organization (SLNFRO) on Sunday, August 21, 2022 concluded a three-day refreshers course for FIFA badged referees in preparation for the WAFU Zone A U20 tournament to be hosted in Mauritania and shall commence on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

Among the referees selected by CAF for the said tournament are; Micheal Conteh and Mohamed K. Koroma.
