Sierra Organic Palm(SOP) has recently made the second payment of land lease to landowners in Kasseh, Bureh and Macontehchiefdoms of Port Loko District. The payment which amounted to over Le300 million is part of agreement sign by the investor and landowners for the operation of the company.
Sierra Organic Palm has taken over from the Sierra Leone Agriculture the oil palm plantation in Kasseh, Bureh and Maconteh chiefdoms.

Mr Mohamed Kamara is the country manager of Sierra Organic Palm. He said that this is the third payment of land lease to land owners.
He pointed out that SOP as met the concern expressed by some landowners for the increments of land lease from seven dollar to twelve dollar for one hectare of land, employment and environmental safety.
He maintained the company has manifest interest to improve the lives of landowners and increase socio-economic livelihood of the people.
He said that Sierra Organic Palm is a sustainable company that will continue to operate in the communities for many years.
Aminata – SokoKamara, a landowner at Banthoron community in Bureh chiefdom, expressed happiness and hope for long time benefits from the investment of SOP.
Pa AlimamyKargbo of Romendi section of Kasseh chiefdom, appreciated the Sierra Organic Palm for the tremendous transformation of their community. The Paramount Chief of Kasseh, Regent of Bureh and Maconteh expressed kind sentiment about the provision of chiefdom funds, maintaining that this will go a long way to address some of the challenges in running the chiefdom administration.
