Sierra Stars Continue training in spite postponement of WAFU U-17 Cup

Sierra Stars, the under 17 national football team of Sierra Leone, continue to prepare for the West African Football Union football tournament although the tournament has been postponed.

Presently, 27 boys are camped in Makeni City as intensive training continues ahead of the upcoming WAFU Zone Total U-17 AFCON Qualifiers for Morocco 2021.

Raymond Samuel Lewis, Sierra Stars’ head coach after a victorious friendly encounter played against Born and Raised Accademy in Makeni’s Wusum Grounds, said that his boys have  proven to have incredibly developed by thumping  their opponents by 6-1.

 “I am very happy with the level of progress we have made so far. It is very satisfying to see the boys grow both physically and mentally,” he added.

He said that he together with his backroom staff will continue to train the boys now that the ban of sports has been lifted. He disclose that they will play many local matches as part of

the preparation for any subsequent competition.

The said tournament which is set to be hosted in Sierra Leone was meant to have taken place between December 11-20, 2020 but has been indefinitely  postponed by WAFU Zone A.
