The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) was to hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday June 20, 2020, at the Presidential Identical Lounge of the Siaka Steven Stadium but has postponed it as a need to abide by social distancing necessitated by the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country and the banning of all sporting activities in the country.
According to information from the Association, the Association supposed to hold their AGM but few days to the AGM, they informed the Sports Ministry and the National Sports Authority (NSA) about the meeting.
According to SLCA Board Secretary Daniel Koroma, the Ministry advised them to put the meeting on hold until they lift the ban on all Sports activities which came into effect due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Sierra Leone and the entire world.
He went on to state that they had informed their members about the decision to postpone the meeting till government lift the ban.
Mr. Koroma said before that time, they had planned to do the meeting through zoom conference, but later found out that it would not accommodate all their members.
He further revealed that that in an effort to maintain transparency and accountability, they decided to give the media an opportunity to follow their deliberations adequately.
He added that all plans had already been put in place to hold the meeting in a hall in which social distancing rules would have been observed before the indefinite postponement of the A.G.M. upon the advice of official in the Ministry of Sports.
“As a law-abiding Association we decided to go by the advice of the Sports Ministry.” He called on their membership to exercise patience and ask questions on anything they wanted to know about the Association’s activities.
