Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Sierra Leone Boxing Association (SLBA) has officially banned Christian Campbell from all boxing activities in Sierra Leone and international engagements, citing multiple instances of misconduct, insubordination, and actions that have tarnished the reputation of the sport.
In a statement issued by SLBA Secretary General Alhaji Komba, the association detailed the reasons behind the decision, accusing Campbell of repeated disregard for established protocols and authority. One of the key incidents involved Campbell’s misleading communication with the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC), where he falsely presented himself as an Executive Member and Director of Administration and External Relations for the SLBA.
“This resolution was reached following multiple acts of insubordination and the disrepute you have brought to the sport. Your recent impersonation to the AFBC, claiming to be an Executive member serving as Director of Administration and External Relations, is particularly concerning,” the SLBA statement read.
In another serious allegation, Campbell was accused of fraudulently signing a letter to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), requesting the release of military boxers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The SLBA described this act as “a complete fraud,” further undermining the association’s credibility.
The SLBA expressed concern that Campbell’s activities since leaving office have been aimed at disrupting the progress of the association, its affiliates, and partners. “Your actions have been demonstrably geared towards thwarting the gains and fortunes of the SLBA,” the statement added.
As a result of these actions, the SLBA warned that any further violation of this ban would lead to legal proceedings against Campbell. The association also communicated the ban to all relevant stakeholders within both local and international sports sectors to ensure compliance.
Christian Campbell, when contacted, denied the allegations and promised to provide an adequate response in due course.
The SLBA’s decision to impose the ban highlights its commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport in Sierra Leone and ensuring that all members adhere to the rules and regulations governing the association.
