SLCCIA to Hold Annual General Meeting

By George M.O. Williams

Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (SLCCIA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) within a 90-day period (three months).

This came after majority of its members agreed to extend the office tenure of the current Executive to the said period rather than form an interim committee.

These decisions were made during a meeting held on Tuesday, January 31, 2024, at the New Freetown City Council Building.

The Executive among other issues is tasked with organizing the AGM and finalizing the audited report within the 90-day period.  The SLCCIA executive promised to give weekly reports on progress made.

The Sierra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is a voluntary association of business people of all nationalities doing business in Sierra Leone and who wish to become members.

The Chamber does not interfere in the running of the business of its members except when its assistance is sought by individual members. The Chamber’s activity is designed to promote the economic interests of its members and help them, according to the requirements of a competitive market economy.

The Chief Executive Officer of SLCCIA, James Koroma said that the past years had been tough for them as salaries had been paid for all the months, unless they had to solicit funds from other sources.

He emphasized that it is important for member to support the chamber as there is the only source that will help the operation of the chamber. He also added that genuine efforts should be made to support the Chamber rather than smear its name.

The President of SLCCIA, Christopher Foster admonished all members to come onboard and support the goals of SLCCIA for the better, and he promised that they would ensure that the audit report is prepared.
