In a bold step towards enhancing sports development in Sierra Leone, the Hon. Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, accompanied by Senior Sports Development Officer Momodu Alpha, paid a visit to the Cuban Ambassador at her embassy on Juba Hills in Freetown.
The purpose of the visit was to present a detailed proposal outlining areas where the Cuban Government could collaborate with Sierra Leone in sports development programs.
The meeting saw both parties expressing enthusiasm and optimism about the potential partnership.
Madam Augusta James-Teima underscored the importance of international cooperation in advancing sports in Sierra Leone, stressing Cuba’s extensive experience and support for African nations in athlete training and sports personnel capacity building.
The Cuban Ambassador responded positively to the proposal, pointing out Cuba’s longstanding commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and skills across Africa.
She assured the Minister that the Cuban Embassy would support Sierra Leone’s sports development agenda, both within the country and beyond.
“This meeting marks a significant milestone in our efforts to elevate sports in Sierra Leone to new heights,” said Minister James-Teima.
