Star Sports Academy Partners With Antalyaspor F. C. By Desmond Tunde Coker

The Management of Star Sports Academy One of Sierra Leone’s formidable young football academies, Star Sports Academy has signed a partnership agreement with Turkish topflight club Antalyaspor, at a ceremony which took place at the Sense Hotel in Antalya.

The International Relations and Strategic Planning Manager for Antalyspor FC, Erdem Erdal, was present at the signing on-behalf of his club while the owner, Yankuba Tarawally and Manager of Star Sports, Musa Kpokawa, represented Star Sport Academy in the partnership signing event.

The partnership between Antalyaspor FC and Star Sport Academy was facilitated by two renowned football agents Bevan Dicks and Peter Smith who came to Sierra Leone in early August to witness the Detect Tournaments in Makeni and Freetown.

Star Sport Academy owner, Yankunba Tawarally, described the trip to Turkey as a fruitful journey and continued to say that one of the reasons for which they went to Antalya has been achieved.

He pointed out that both parties have agreed to work together to develop and market the players.

“We came here to sign a partnership deal and market our players, all what is relating to the partnership deal was agreed on and both sides are looking forward to changing the lives of Sierra Leonean players,” he concluded.

The latest development took place after three players of Star Sports Academy; Edward Bello Yillah, Senessie Janneh, and Marvin Lebbie arrived in Antalya for trials with the Antalyaspor Under-19 side scouted by the international football agents Bevan Dicks and Peter Smith during the Detect Tournament which had been hosted in Makeni and Freetown in August 2023.

The football academy came into existence in 2001 and still doing well with some International trips and the hosting of a tournament.
