Student to Serve 15 years in Prison for Manslaughter

Peter Kargbo, a student, has been found guilty of manslaughter and convicted to 15 years in prison by Justice Komba Kamanda on Tuesday January 31, 2022.

The case of the accused Peter Kargbo was listed for hearing in Freetown during the Judicial Week.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused on August 28, 2016 at Babadorie, Lumley in the western area of Freetown, unlawfully killed Haja Mariama Jalloh.

The accused person was represented by A. Kargbo and S.S Pessima from Legal Aid Board.

The State Prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq. led three witnesses including the factual witness and a formal witness.

The accused person relied on his statement to the police.

Justice Kamanda said thatfrom the evidence in chief, and the manner in which the deceased was brutally killed, the accused was found guilty. The accused was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
