Superintendent Monica Emelda Johnson and the Sierra Leone Scout Association have on Saturday February 4, 2023 cleaned the New England Ville Police Station and its surroundings environment in line with their annual awards nights.
The cleaning exercise which was also supported by the Freetown City Council (FCC), extended into the precinct of the Education and Social Welfare Ministries and the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD).
Superintendent Monica Emelda Johnson said that since she took over as the Officer in Charge the cleaning exercise marks the second she has spearheaded after realizing that the precinct of the New England Police Station and surrounding environment has always been littered with rubbish.
She emphasized that the exercise aims at teaching the significance of living in a clean working environment that is welcoming to clients. She admonished other officers in charge to replicate such venture as they should not wait for the Government of Sierra Leone to clean their offices.
The Administrative and International Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Scout Association, Patrick Massaquoi, said the cleaning was critical and essential because it pertains the objective of the Scout Association, which is to transform young people to become good citizens and be clean in their words, thoughts and doings.
In that regard, he added that they were putting into practice the ideal of the Scout Association by engaging in the cleaning exercise.
The Ward Secretary Freetown City Council, Abdul Jah assured all that the cleaning will be sustainable.
