The Society for Women & AIDS in Africa Sierra Leone (SWAASL) on Friday April 29, 2022, engaged philanthropist, Barbara Robinson who had supported and provided funds for their course on sustainable livelihood projects for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
The President of SWAASL, Monica Greene said that they appreciate the strides made by Barbara Robinson in providing financial support for advocacy to improve the lives and standards of support group members.
She added that through the project, they were able to empower others with skills in order to provide basic amenities for them and their households,adding that they have also created a marketable environment for the sales of products produced by members.
Greene recalled that in the past there was lack of sensitization, no medication and other required supports for persons living with the virus, adding that with the support of Global Fund and the goodwill gesture of philanthropists they have been able to overcome some of those challenges.
Philanthropist, Barbara Robinson said that she received a divine inspiration to provide support to the SWAASL for those that are involved in Farming, Rearing of Animals, Gara tie dyeing and other livelihood activities, adding that her idea is to add value on the products produced by support group members.
She cited that she would continue to provide support and admonished all to work collectively to ensure that their objectives are achieved, adding that she would continue to advocates for support.
A beneficiaries, Musu Kamara, who resides in Waterloo, said that she have received skills training and have benefitted from other development activities that have transformed their lives and be able to provide necessary for their household.
