Technician Jailed on Allegation of US$500 Theft

One Theophilus Anderson who identified himself as a technician was on Thursday, May 4, 2023, remanded at the Male Correctional Center by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road Court No. 3 for allegedly stealing US$500.

The accused on his first appearance in court was docked on a count charge of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused Theophilus Anderson, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Freetown did steal US$500 (NLe11,600) from one Mohamed Bangura.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge levied against him.

At this juncture, the prosecutor Chief Inspector Francis Macaulay applied he be granted an adjournment as his witnesses were absent.

Magistrate Bangura however, granted the prosecution’s appeal and adjourned the matter to May 12, 2023, while the accused who was not represented by a solicitor was refused bail.
