Freetown, January 9, 2025 – A significant delegation from the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the Monument and Relics Commission, and the National Museum visited the Sierra Leone Railway Museum today. The delegation was led by the Honorable Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis, and included Deputy Minister Kadijatu Grace Kamara, Director of Culture, Creativity and Innovation Foday Jalloh, Deputy Secretary Sahr Philip Morsay, and Administrative Manager of the Monument and Relics Commission Ann-Marie Kamara, along with staff from the Ministry and its sub-vented agencies.
The visit underscored the Ministry’s strong commitment to preserving Sierra Leone’s artifacts and heritage. It highlighted the importance of safeguarding these historic treasures for future generations while showcasing them as key elements of the country’s cultural and historical identity.
The delegation’s experience provided an insightful look into the technology that once powered Sierra Leone’s industrial sector, offering a poignant reminder of the ingenuity and dynamism of the country’s forebears. This visit reinforced the necessity of protecting and preserving the Railway Museum, along with many other symbols of the nation’s heritage, ensuring their legacy is passed down to future generations.
