Mary Sesay, 20, and John Bangura, a mason, were yesterday sent to prison by Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road court No.6 in Freetown over allegation of theft.
The accused persons made their first appearance in court and were arraigned on two counts of Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Bonga Town, Off Wilkinson Road, Freetown did steal the sum of NLe4,750, one Techno Pop 5 mobile phone valued NLe1,500, six pairs of assorted creep valued NLe410 and other items all to the total value of NLe7,205, property of Adama Mansaray.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons, and they pleaded not guilty. However, the prosecution informed the Bench that her witness is absent.
Magistrate Gogra refused to the accused on bail.
The matter was adjourned to August 16, 2022, for further hearing.
