Two on Remand on Visa Fraud

Manso Lamin Koroma and Sulaiman Sesay aka Mufty were on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 sent on remand by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road CVourt No1 for an alleged traveling fraud to Canada.

The accused persons are  charged on five counts  of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to section 32 of The Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offences, on an unknown date between 1st August 2022 and 4th January 2023, at Tengbeh Town in Freetown both accused, with intent to defraud, conspired with other persons unknown to defraud the total sum of NLe103,000 (one hundred and three thousand new notes) from Sahr Gbondo, Isaac, Momoh and Mariama Mansaray by falsely pretending that they will facilitate their traveling for the aforesaid persons to Canada, knowing same to be false.

Count 2 stated that Manso Lamin Koroma with intent to defraud obtained the sum of NLe43,000 from Sahr Gbondo by falsely pretending that he will facilitate the traveling of his sisters Finda Momoh and Hawa Momoh to Canada knowing same to be false.

The police alleged on count 3 that the accused Manso Lamin Koroma on November 20, 2022 obtained NLe20,000 from Mariama Mansaray by falsely pretending that he will facilitate her traveling to Canada.

On count four,  Sulaiman Sesay defrauded and obtained NLe43,000 from Sahr Gbondo by falsely pretending to facilitate the traveling of his sisters Finda Momoh and Hawa Momoh to Canada.

Whiles count 5 added that Sulaiman Sesay on the said date obtained the sum of NLe40,000 from Isaac Momoh by falsely pretending to facilitate his traveling to Canada.

Both accused pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.

The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, April 25, 2023 as Prosecution witness was absent while both accused were refused bail.
