Two Sea Coach Sailors Remanded for $5,200 Theft

Samuel Benjamin Moiba and Alfred Abdul Karim Koroma, both sailors at Sea Coach Express, were sent to prison yesterday by Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 for allegedly stealing items valued at $5,200 from one of their passengers.

The accused, Samuel Benjamin Moiba and Alfred Abdul Karim Koroma, made their second court appearance and were arraigned on two charges: conspiracy contrary to law and larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916. According to the particulars of the offence on count one, the accused persons conspired with others unknown to commit larceny on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen, Freetown.

The police further alleged on count two that the accused stole a black suitcase valued at $150, a grey Dell laptop computer, a black Samsung A23 mobile phone, and other assorted items, all totaling $5,200, from Dr. Sheriff Emil Whites while in the custody of the management of Sea Coach Express on the same date at Sea Coach Express, Aberdeen.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken. The police prosecutor, Inspector Kadie Taylor, requested an adjournment to call her witnesses. Magistrate Kekura granted her application and remanded the accused in prison, with the matter adjourned to March 10, 2025.
