Two Student in court for Alleged Wounding and Assault

Two FBC students Amelia Karim and Edith Conteh were granted bail on Wednesday by Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road Court No 6.

The accused persons made their first appearance in court and were arraigned on four counts of  Wounding with intent, aounding and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm

According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, March  7, 2023 at Kingdom Hall,  off Wilkinson Road, the accused  maliciously wounded and assaulted Alice Maitha in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm .

The charges was read and explained to the accused persons but no plea was taken.

The prosecution witness No1 Alice Maitha said she is  a Student of FBC and that  she recognized the accused persons and  recalled on March 7, 2023.

She said that on that day  she  boarded a motorbike from Kamayama  and at around Wilkinson Road,  the accused persons were also on board their own bike that nearly hit her.

“When I came down to confront the rider, the accused persons started using abusive languages on me and during the process the second accused  pushed me  on the ground,” she  stated.

She said she sustain wounds on her body, and that while she was going home they chased her to her house and they fought with her. She said that she immediately went to the Lumley police station and made a report.

The witness said she used her iPhone and  took snapshots of the wounds which was printed into  pictures. The said pictures were  produce and tendered in court as Exhibit B1-2.

Meanwhile, magistrate Gogra granted the accused persons bail in the sum of Le20 million each with two sureties in like sum. The sureties should be resident in the Western Area and should produce valid identity cards.

The matter was adjourned to the 17th March 17, 2023 for further hearing.
