Freetown, August 29, 2024 – U.S. Africa Movie Production, a film company founded by U.S.-based Sierra Leonean Evelyn Grote, has officially released its latest movie, Pica. This new film, penned by renowned Nigerian screenwriter Ngara Solomon Freedom, is designed to raise awareness about personal accountability and the consequences of one’s actions.
Pica centers around the powerful message that happiness results from good deeds, while negative actions inevitably lead to misery. “Our happiness is shaped by our actions. If you do good, you will encounter good; if you do bad, you will inevitably face evil,” said Freedom, a prominent figure in African cinema. He described the film as both educational and entertaining, making it a must-watch.
In addition to its broader themes, Pica also tackles social issues such as abortion. Freedom highlighted the film’s cautionary stance on the subject, urging young women to avoid terminating pregnancies due to the potential physical and emotional dangers. “It’s a dangerous decision that could lead to serious health problems or even death. To fully grasp the gravity of this message, I encourage everyone to watch the film by subscribing to the U.S. Africa Movie Production YouTube channel,” Freedom added.
The inspiration for Pica comes from Freedom’s observations of societal challenges. He believes movies are a powerful medium for spreading important messages and raising awareness about issues that hinder societal growth.
U.S. Africa Movie Production has a history of producing impactful films, including Careless Fate, Dilemma, and Lost Identity. These films have resonated with audiences worldwide, contributing to the global growth of African cinema.
Evelyn Grote, the founder of U.S. Africa Movie Production, began her career in gold and diamond mining before discovering her passion for filmmaking. “Filmmaking ignited something inside me,” Grote shared. “I realized that I could make a positive impact on African cinema, particularly in Sierra Leone.” Grote now focuses on film production, marketing, distribution, and talent development, believing that the platform she has built will not only empower young filmmakers but also contribute to Sierra Leone’s economic growth.
Pica is now available for viewing, offering audiences a thought-provoking and engaging cinematic experience that encourages mindfulness in personal actions and decisions.
