Western Area Basketball Association Organizes Refresher Workshop

The newly elected Western Area Basketball Association (WABA) executive has organized a one-day refresher workshop for coaches and officials in their association.

The workshop was conducted at Dr. Lahai Taylor hall Brookfields in Freetown on Saturday January 27th, 2024. 

The workshop brought together members of the National Basketball Association, Coaches, and officials from different clubs in the Western Area.

Ahmed Tejan  Dahniya aka Bunkaimed who is the Chairman of the Western Area Basketball Association, when speaking to this medium stated that that it was the first time they were organizing such an event. He stated that the Association was embarking on capacity building for all coaches and officials and explained that the rationale behind the workshop had been to enrich all coaches and officials in the Western Area to keep up with modern trends in basketball worldwide.

Bunkaimed added that the workshop would also serve as a guide in the running of the upcoming Western Area Basketball Association League.

The Chairman emphasized that discipline and good organization are the most important aspects of the Basketball.

Dahniya pointed out that the WABA is financially constrained, and he pleaded with Sierra Leoneans to come on board to support the Association.

During the conduct of the workshop, participants expressed gratitude to the Western Area Basketball Association for organizing such an educative and timely event that would help them understand and interpret the game for its development nationwide.
